ATRIA NETWORKS ACQUIRES ONTARIO TELECOM ASSETS OF XITTEL TELECOMMUNICATIONS INC.

MARKHAM – August 5, 2010…Atria Networks has acquired the Ontario telecom network assets of Xittel Telecommunications Inc. of Trois-Rivières, PQ, effective immediately. Purchase price has not been disclosed.
Atria CEO John Piercy said, “This acquisition allows Atria to extend our fibre connectivity from Huntsville through Barrie, across to Lindsay and north to Minden, ON.
“In addition to further increasing Atria’s fibre reach through Simcoe County and Haliburton, we are delighted to add the County of Halburton and Trillium Lakelands District School Board as new Atria customers,” added Piercy.
Said Xittel President Robert Proulx, “With recent major broadband projects underway in Québec (with Industry Canada’s Rural Broadband program and Québec Program Community Connect), the sale of our Ontario Network will permit Xittel to focus on network deployment in rural Québec. With over 10,000 customers there, Xittel is the leader in broadband Internet rural deployment in Québec.”
