CALGARY, AB August 16, 2010 Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced a new security gateway, the Check Point Series 80 Appliance, designed for remote and branch offices and delivering 1.5 gigabit performance for under $2,500. The new Series 80 Appliance is based on the Check Point Software Blade Architecture and provides the same security and flexibility enjoyed by larger offices and enterprises.
The Series 80 includes several software blades including firewall, IPS, VPN, anti-virus and anti-malware, URL filtering, anti-spam and email security software. The new appliance delivers the best price/performance in its class with less than $1.6/Mbps for firewall and $5.6/Mbps for IPS.  In addition, it offers the highest port density with 10 GbE ports to manage the entire branch network in one appliance and come in a small desktop form factor ideal for remote branch offices.  The Series 80 is based on Check Point security technologies that today secure 100 percent of the Fortune 100.
“Enterprises are demanding more protection, faster performance and increased simplicity to protect their entire network from data centers to the smallest branch offices,” said Paul Comessotti, Check Point’s Canadian Country Manager. “Today we are bringing to market an ideal solution for these smaller offices.  Our new Series 80 is stronger in security, faster in performance but smaller in size and price and provides companies greater security at the ends of their network, the branch offices.”
The Series 80 can be activated in one single click by corporate IT and then deployed locally within minutes without additional corporate support. Security administrators can define policies for branch offices from a single, centrally located Check Point Security Management console. These policies, along with other security profiles, can be automatically applied to remote office gateways to simplify deployment, reduce IT overhead and maintain strong security consistency.
“Check Point’s Series 80 Appliance has helped us create a holistic approach to security. We can set security expectations at a high level and ensure consistent protection across all of our customers’ remote office environments,” says Craig Deveau, senior product manager, managed security services at Allstream. “In addition, with the Series 80 high port-density, we can minimize the overhead of switches and routers at the branches and maintain consistent security standards without a dedicated IT employee.”
