CHECK POINT POSITIONED AS A LEADER FOR THE 16th CONSECUTIVE YEAR IN THE 2013 GARTNER MAGIC QUADRANT FOR ENTERPRISE NETWORK FIREWALL

CALGARY, AB – February 25, 2013Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced it has been positioned in the leaders quadrant for Gartner’s recently published Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Network Firewall1.  Check Point has been in the leader’s quadrant for 16 consecutive years.
Gartner defines leaders in the Enterprise Network Firewall Magic Quadrant as “containing a mix of large and midsize vendors, with the common element of making products that are built for enterprise requirements. These requirements include a wide range of models, support for virtualization and virtual LANs, and a management and reporting capability that is designed for complex and high-volume environments, such as multitier administration and rules/policy minimization. An NGFW capability is an important element as enterprises move away from having dedicated IPS appliances at their perimeter and remote locations. Vendors in this quadrant lead the market in offering new safeguarding features, providing expert capability, rather than treating the firewall as a commodity, and having a good track record of avoiding vulnerabilities in their security products. Common characteristics include handling the highest throughput with minimal performance loss and options for hardware acceleration.”
“The firewall market has evolved from the simple stateful firewalls to NGFWs, incorporating full-stack inspection to support intrusion prevention, application-level inspection and granular policy control,” said Gartner. “Such NGFWs will eventually subsume mainstream deployments of stand-alone network intrusion prevention system appliance technology at the enterprise edge.”
“Although Check Point first pioneered the industry with FireWall-1 and its patented stateful inspection technology, we have developed new innovations based on the Software Blade Architecture, providing customers with flexible and simple solutions that can be fully customized to meet the exact security needs of any organization,” said Paul Comessotti, Canadian Regional Director, Check Point Software Technologies.   “Check Point’s wide range of appliance models and highly ranked management console allows us to meet the most rigorous requirements for complex enterprise networks.”
Check Point provides its customers comprehensive protection for all types of data. Customers may choose from an extensive set of integrated security capabilities—including Firewall, IPSec, VPN, Mobile Access, IPS, Anti-Bot, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam & Email Security, Identity Awareness, Application Control, URL Filtering, and DLP Software Blades.
