MILES JONES
Miles Jones, a Toronto-based DJ, producer, songwriter, rapper and definitive multi-talented musician, released his debut album in 2006. Jones’ 2009 release Runway Jones featured some of the top performers in North America’s hip hop scene, including Boi-1da, Black Milk, Percee P, Kae Sun and Shad K. The album charted at number three on iTunes Canada and received sync placements on CBS’s CSI: Las Vegas, ABC’s Rookie Blue and on the 2010 CTV Olympic Broadcast. The internationally acclaimed album won Jones a Ontario Independent Music Award for Song of the Yearand a prize for the 2010 Billboard Song Contest.
Through his own label, Mojo Records and Publishing, his 2012 album The Jones Act Part III, featured collaborations with fellow Canadian hip-hop mainstays like Kae Sun,
D-Sisive, Kayo, Ghettosocks, Tona and A-Jaxx.
Blending futuristic beats Jones has crafted a critically-acclaimed brand of urban music that speaks to his eclectic upbringing in one of the most multicultural cities in the world.
 
MELISSA ‘HUNNYB’ VESZI
Melissa Veszi, better known by her stage name HunnyB, is a 1st generation Trinidadian‐Canadian singer, songwriter, actress, dancer and model. Daughter of Trinidadian-born Jennifer Encinas, a singer in her own right, Melissa comes from a musical family, known movers and shakers in the Caribbean music scene.
Currently putting the final touches on her debut album, HunnyB has come a long way from her humble beginnings and is now preparing herself for a lifelong career in pop music culture. “Music is in my heart and my blood,” says the singer. It’s that love that has been the driving force of her inevitable career. HunnyB has had the opportunity to explore multiple genres, which led her to find her musical liberation.
 
MODERN DAY VOYAGEURS
The Modern Day Voyageurs are an up and coming band out of Toronto.  Led by guitarist and singer Michael Lindberg, their high energy and crystal like harmonies reflect the sounds inspired by Northern Canadian landscapes.  Drummer Trevor Falls and bassist Jeff Carter are two of Toronto’s most sought out players and are the core of this band’s sound. The extraordinary voice of Alanna J Brown provides harmony on more than half the tracks. Their new self titled record is set to release March, 2013.
Coming out for the Indie Series provides the perfect opportunity to also sample Paintbox’s delicious menu. The Toronto Star in a recent review lauded Paintbox Bistro not just for the creativity and technical proficiency of its food (and the good value it offers), but also for its social mission: the Bistro is “helping to revitalize Regent Park, one scrumptious roasted heirloom carrot at a time” by hiring marginalized individuals and training them in the finer points of operating a restaurant.
