Restaurateur Tony Loschiavo’s newest establishment offers fresh food fast, for dine-in or take-out
TORONTO, February 28, 2012 — L-EAT Express (www.leatexpress.com), the newest offering by successful caterer, restaurateur, chef and sommelier Tony Loschiavo, takes aim at discerning downtown Toronto office, condo and apartment dwellers with house-made, hand-made Italian fare.
From its 410 Adelaide St. W. location, just west of Spadina in Toronto, L-EAT Express offers fast delivery service by “Toronto’s first and only delivery tricycle; a custom-fitted three-wheeler with an insulated box that keeps food hot or cold while avoiding all the traffic snarls and parking nightmares traditional delivery methods entail,” Loschiavo said.
Loschiavo’s L-EAT Catering and two Paese restaurants have established him as a visionary and a traditionalist, a combination poised to make L-EAT Express his next big success.
With the best ingredients (some grown at Loschiavo’s North York urban garden that serves all his outlets), heritage Italian flavours and a location within minutes of the most crowded parts of the city, L-EAT Express offers speedy food delivery as well as an inviting eat-in environment among Douglas fir-topped tables and a Milan-style stand-up bar, leather-clad chairs and historic Toronto photographs. “Home-made sauces, stews, giardiniera and more line the shelves, offering easy dinner possibilities too,” added Loschiavo.
Said L-EAT’s Director of Operations, Richard Arnold, “Everything at L-EAT Express is hand-made in-house. We roast turkeys, jar tomato sauce and preserves, slow-cook stews, make paté, bake decadent dessert squares, have specially-pressed olive oil bottled in Italy and, even scour the forest in early spring, picking ramps for pickling on-site. The mayo is made in-house and provides a base for the aioli. Focaccia is made fresh daily, and all our breads come from a starter nearly a decade old.”
“Then there’s the coffee,” Loschiavo adds, “Our coffee is not an after-thought. Pizza, a glass of wine and good coffee. There’s perfection in this, done the right way. As any self-respecting coffee-loving Italian would agree.”
L-EAT Express serves only 100 per cent organic, resiprocate coffee, ground on-site daily and serves Ruffino for our espresso. “Coffee is 99 per cent water, so it has to be great, too. The water we use is filtered for hardness, but leaves desirable minerals that complement flavour. And if even a good wine or fine beer isn’t enough to perk up the afternoon, a caffé corretto should do it. Corretto corrects an espresso with a shot of liquor, often grappa, Sambuca or brandy,” Loschiavo said.
