McAfee, Inc. Aligns Business to Respond to Evolving Customer Requirements

Businesses Looking for Strategic Security Providers to Offer End-to-End Protection with Multiple Delivery Options
MARKHAM, ON – May 12, 2010 McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFC) has announced a new alignment of its business units and their solutions designed to best support customers as they deal with changing threats and increased regulation. The new solutions will consist of unified products that include a combination of on-premise software, gateway appliances and cloud-based Security-as-a-Service. McAfee core technologies, including the McAfee(R) ePolicy Orchestrator platform, and its Global Threat Intelligence, will play a key role in each business solution and will continue to drive the company’s industry leadership.
“Businesses are looking for solutions to business issues, not just point products,” said Dave DeWalt, president and chief executive officer of McAfee. “By aligning with these business issues, and providing a comprehensive approach that includes products, technology and delivery methods, we aim to provide the best customer experience in the industry.”
McAfee businesses are aligned to offer enhanced protection:
With increased threat levels and regulations customers need more than current malware protection can offer.

  • Endpoint security – Customers now require their security partner to minimize vulnerabilities at their endpoints with anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, web security, desktop firewall, intrusion prevention, network access control (NAC), policy auditing and encryption to properly defend a business from threats and increased regulation. McAfee integrated protections and controls are designed to help organizations cut costs, simplify compliance, and reduce the frequency and urgency of patching. While McAfee delivers comprehensive endpoint protection competitors are now just trying to catch up with similar offerings. Candace Worley will lead the Endpoint Security business unit, bringing more than 10 years experience and knowledge of customers’ endpoint security needs.
  • Network Security – As the current leader in the intrusion prevention market, McAfee will now challenge other network security companies with our Next Generation Firewall. With enhanced application identity and control, and advanced threat protection, McAfee is addressing a stagnant firewall market by adapting to current and future customer needs. The company’s complete suite of network defense products, including firewall, network behavioral analysis, IPS, and NAC hooks into the McAfee unique Global Threat Intelligence network, to provide the industry’s best protection for customers. Rees Johnson, who drove the McAfee IPS business to the market leading position, will lead the Network Security business unit, bringing more than 15 years of enterprise systems experience to the group, including 10 in the security industry.
  • Content Security – McAfee is focused on providing customers with email, Web and data loss prevention solutions that span all delivery platforms including on-premise software, gateway appliances, cloud-based offerings. Integrated delivery will enable customers to choose hybrid delivery options to meet the rapidly changing needs of their business. The McAfee real-time anti-malware technology is unsurpassed in the industry, as demonstrated by the fact that McAfee customers were protected against Operation Aurora before it was launched. Marc Olesen, who leads the McAfee Cloud-based Security-as-a-Service business will lead the Content Security business and continue to drive the company’s overall Cloud Security Strategy.
  • Risk and Compliance – Customers struggle to unify security and compliance activities under a single set of policies and processes because of increased threat level and regulations. By automatically diagnosing IT environments, McAfee simplifies and focuses asset protection and provides real-time management of an organization’s risk and compliance position so that they can direct security and resource investments where they matter most. The McAfee approach takes the guesswork out of when and where organizations need to focus security efforts, saving customers time and money. Stuart McClure who currently leads the McAfee Risk and Compliance business unit will continue to drive innovation in this area.

McAfee product offerings have been designed to suit the need of every sized business from SMB to Enterprise. The solutions were designed to be manageable through the cloud or by McAfee(R) ePolicy Orchestrator(R) platform, the only enterprise-class, open platform to centrally manage security for systems, networks, content, and compliance solutions. With end-to-end visibility and powerful automations that slash incident response times, ePolicy Orchestrator platform dramatically strengthens protection and drives down the cost of managing security.
All McAfee products benefit from McAfee Global Threat Intelligence, created and refined by McAfee Labs to power the next generation of security. Spanning the entire Internet, Global Threat Intelligence effectively uses millions of sensors to gather real-time intelligence from host IP addresses, Internet domains, specific URLs, files, images, and email messages. Global Threat Intelligence seeks new and emerging threats, including malware outbreaks, zero-day exploits, and malicious zombie senders generating spam and Web attacks.
