McAfee Positioned In The Leaders Quadrant For Secure Web Gateway Magic Quadrant

MARKHAM, ON – January 12, 2010 – McAfee Inc. (NYSE:MFE) today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., a premier research and advisory firm, in the Leaders Quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateway” report published on January 8, 2010 (written by: Peter Firstbrook and Lawrence Orans). This report evaluates 17 vendors.
According to Gartner, “Leaders are high-momentum vendors (based on sales and ‘mind share’ growth) with emerging track records in Web gateway security, as well as vision and business investments that indicate they are well-positioned for the future. Leaders do not necessarily offer the best products for every customer project; however, they provide solutions that offer relatively lower risk.”
“McAfee continues to execute and deliver on our Web gateway vision, providing customers with security, compliance and increased productivity,” said Dan Ryan, executive vice president and general manager of the Network Security business unit at McAfee. “We continue to provide the most advanced preemptive technologies running flexibly across appliances, virtual appliances and cloud-based offerings, delivering customers a high return on their investment.”
McAfee offers a complete portfolio of Web gateway security appliances. The McAfee Web Gateway appliance is the industry’s first and only reputation-based solution that protects enterprises against malware and spyware, phishing fraud and identity theft, data leakage, and Internet misuse. Simultaneously, it helps to ensure policy enforcement, regulatory compliance, and a productive application environment. McAfee has set a standard for preemptive detection through the company’s industry-leading reputation system, TrustedSource™. Integrating this reputation scoring information with behavioral analysis and the millions of URLs in its award-winning database, McAfee provides organizations with real-time global threat intelligence that enables the most effective protection at the enterprise gateway against security threats.
