A three piece ensemble, Trevor James & The Perfect Gentlemen are known for their rootsy and sometimes rocky folk tunes; melody and lyric being their ultimate focus. Whether it’s the inviting, honest nature of the songs, the irresistible melodies or the unique vocal styling of Trevor James himself – the sound of Trevor James and his backing band The Perfect Gentlemen is addictive. The band is currently working on their first full length album for Blacktop Records.
GENEVA
The music of Toronto soulstress Geneva, formerly geneva.b, is a channeling of R ‘n’ B, hip hop, and jazz tunes. Her songs present a classic aesthetic with futuristic flavour. With throwback-inspired mixtape “LoveSick” under her belt, Geneva is currently preparing to release the next single off her forthcoming EP, as well as a single with South African Ancestral Soul producer Boddhi Satva through his label Offering Recordings. Whether sentient, sexy or introspective, Geneva will stir your emotions and draw you into her surreal, dreamy world.
Coming out for the Indie Series provides the perfect opportunity to also sample Paintbox’s delicious menu. The Toronto Star in a recent review lauded Paintbox Bistro not just for the creativity and technical proficiency of its food (and the good value it offers), but also for its social mission: the Bistro is “helping to revitalize Regent Park, one scrumptious roasted heirloom carrot at a time” by hiring marginalized individuals and training them in the finer points of operating a restaurant.
