SEASON OF ENTERTAINMENT – Upcoming Jazz Series Lineup
Friday, March 22, 2013 @ 8 pm – THOMPSON EGBO-EGBO TRIO
Pianist Thompson Egbo-Egbo’s musical career has progressed rapidly as one of the first graduates of the Regent Park School of Music program. He furthered his musical education at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and since returning to Toronto, has performed with his own trio and many other ensembles. He has also, at a very young age, become a beacon to young musicians from underprivileged backgrounds, through the formation of his organization, the Thompson T. Egbo-Egbo Arts Foundation. Joining Thompson are bassist Randall Hall and drummer Max Roach.
Saturday, April 13,2013  @ 8 pm – JANE BUNNETT with HILARIO DURAN
Saxophonist, flautist Jane Bunnett has an international reputation not only as a performer, but as a bridger of cultures. She has visited Cuba more than 100 times, taking instruments and teachers to help young Cuban musicians come to Canada to further their studies and careers. One of those early arrivals is pianist Hilario Duran, now a well-known and dynamic presence in Toronto’s jazz and Latin music circles. They perform and tour together often in large ensembles. For this performance at Paintbox Bistro, their performance will be an intimate, inside look at the music, in a pared–down duo format.
Saturday, April 22,2013  @ 8 pm – JOE SEALY TRIO
Pianist Joe Sealy has enjoyed a highly successful career as a musician, composer, recording artist and radio broadcaster. His powerful 1997 album, Africville Suite won a Juno Award, and in 2010, he was named a Member of the Order of Canada.  Joe will perform with his long-time musical partner, bassist Paul Novotny and drummer Daniel Barnes.
